Dalvin Cook named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 8 performance

Minnesota Vikings v Green Bay Packers

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off their best win of the season after a stellar performance from their running back. That same performance that carried the Vikings to their second win of the season earned Dalvin Cook NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Cook ran the ball 30 times for 163 yards and three touchdowns, adding an additional two catches for 63 yards and a touchdown through the air. This award should surprise no one, as Cook quite literally carried the Vikings to the win with 226 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns.

Throughout the offseason Cook’s contract discussion was a main topic, but the Vikings worked out a five-year extension keeping their star running back in Minnesota.

Although the injury concerns are there, Cook has shown how valuable he is to the Vikings offense when healthy. Despite missing a week due to injury and the Vikings already having their bye week, Cook is still second in the NFL in total rushing yards.

It’s starting to look more and more like the Vikings re-signing of Cook is going to pay off for this franchise long-term.
