The Lombardi Trophy of world soccer was in the KFAN studio today as one of the most accomplished U.S. born soccer players of all time brought the Barclays Premiere League trophy on a tour through Minneapolis.

Claudio Reyna played for Manchester City in the Premiere League and accompanied the trophy in the KFAN studio today as he spoke with Paul Allen. Reyna grew up in New Jersey and was a part of four World Cups and multiple Olympics.

“When you talk about the big clubs in the Premiere League, you have Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea” Reyna said when asked about the top teams in the league.

Reyna’s former team, Manchester City has won two of the last three titles and is currently the defending champion. Manchester City’s roster includes World Cup stars such as David Silva, Edin Dzeko, Joe Hart, and three Argentinian players currently in the semifinals of the World Cup. 

The promotional tour of the Premiere League trophy is taking place to peak interest for an August 2nd at TCF Bank Stadium, Manchester City will take on Greek club Olympiakos. The game will be a part of the International Champions Cup.

 Reyna said of the August 2nd game, “When you get the chance to see these players, this level of soccer, live and in person, you really appreciate it.”

When asked about the possibility of an MLS team being brought to the Twin Cities, Reyna said, “There has been a lot of rumors about the MLS looking at Minnesota as a possible expansion site”.

As for the Champions Cup game on August 2nd, tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster and the TCF Bank Stadium box office.
