The #92Noon penalty box shows this year on KFAN have occurred 15 days the Wild have won the game that night. One time -- late in the season versus Vancouver -- we were there on a day it lost. It's called "Vox in the Box" and the karma is 15-and-1.
Despite the recent spat of anxiety, the head coach believes in the karma, the organization loves the karma and positivity with it and so does the 'FAN, which permits us to provide the unique "Sounds of Hockey" whenever we want.
WE NEED THE LUCK/LOVE OF THE KARMA TO WORK TOMORROW BECAUSE THESE SPEEDY CHAMPS LIKE REST AND CHILL TIME AND WANT TO SWEEP US BEFORE THE WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS!
Vox in the Box to the rescue. White horse in play. Most distractions in play. But these Blackhawks most likely will not be as playful and/or engaged with the antics from the penalty box while they practice as the Avs were - nothing may phase the Speedy 'Hawks.
I know in this series we have missed a bunch of goals by inches via put-backs, missed nets, etc. I also know our goalie is a few posts from like a 5 GAA. And I know we have controlled the play at times and looked rather smooth five on five. It's not like we are dramatically overmatched in this thing, save special teams where we are flat getting killed.
It's just the Blackhawks never panic, always have swerve and always seem like a team sitting on something big. We are having to work so hard for everything we get, and that includes moving man in front of the net, something that has been problematic for the Green and Red.
The forecheck -- Chicago's goalie COREY CRAWFORD is so very good and slowing the puck behind the net it rarely seems as if we are getting there in time to make anything happen. And we dump it too many times right into him, thus avoiding most hope of keeping it in the adversarial zone.
That stuff is bugging me. Too, that PARISE, SUTER and KOIVU are a combined minus 29 in seven playoffs games versus these guys is troubling. I know some scores have been of the empty-net variety, but when playing a team full of stars what star power we have has to be on display.
Don't get me wrong -- we are game, just like in game seven in Denver when we overcame four deficits to advance. The Wild had to have a goal relatively early in the third period yesterday to cut the two-goal lead. MCCORMICK found one a couple minutes in, then we proceeded to carry the play for most of the next 15 minutes.
But the Champs play with aplomb, and our nemesis SONFOFABICKELL scored to make it, 3-1, and we were doomed.
The X will be jazzy tomorrow night. Our fans will root on the home team with fire and passion. Tomorrow night we MUST find a way to jam one of those suckers through AND score on a power play (0-for-last-21 versus Chi. in playoffs).
Chicago has won six consecutive and needs to be slapped. It needs to know its in a series. If we cannot put a little fear in its hearts the sucker is over.
