Minneapolis, MN - As Gophers Pro Day got underway at 8:00am Monday morning, a large contingent of NFL scouts were on hand to see projected first round pick Ra'Shede Hageman and fast rising draftee Brock Vereen. Representatives from the Saints, Chargers, Rams, Ravens, Packers, Panthers, Dolphins, Vikings, Eagles, Bears, 49ers, Saints, Cardinals, Chiefs, Steelers, Falcons, Broncos and Seahawks were in attendance to see this year's prospect class from Minnesota. While the aforementioned turnout was impressive, it was just after 9:00am when heads started turning.

Arriving via bus, no joke, more than 15 representatives from the Minnesota Vikings rolled in including general manager Rick Spielman, head coach Mike Zimmer, offensive coordinator Norv Turner, defensive coordinator George Edwards and special teams coordinator Mike Priefer. Joined by a handful of scouts and a few public relations staffers, the Vikings' presence was easily the heaviest it's been in recent memory.

So does this mean that Jerry Kill and the Gophers are pushing out such talent that pro teams bus over a dozen reps? Not exactly.

While the high-end talent (Hageman & Vereen) likely had something to do with the large contingent, a Vikings representative confirmed that the group plans to head over to TCF Bank Stadium after the Pro Day activities wrap up to tour the facility from a player personnel perspective.

While on campus it wouldn't be the worst idea for the Vikings crew to get a little comfortable. As construction of the new Vikings stadium continues, the team will be calling TCF Bank Stadium and the University of Minnesota home for the next two seasons.

As for the draft prospects on hand for the Vikings, Hageman is a projected late first-round while Vereen's stock is rising rapidly after a solid showing at the NFL Scouting Combine. Brock is still slated as a mid-round choice, but a lot can change between now and the beginning of May.
