Minneapolis, MN - Reports surfaced early Wednesday morning claiming that veteran quarterback Matt Cassel plans to void his player option for the 2014 season. Cassel has five days after the Super Bowl to officially make the decision to pass on $3.15M for the 2014 season.

The decision to void the contract may simply be strategic for Cassel who could still land with the Vikings through free agency. Despite Cassel's up and down season in 2013, he probably realizes that he is in good position to be the only viable option at QB for the upcoming season.
