Minneapolis, MN - Well that didn't take long! On Thursday afternoon Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told me that "we would love to have Matt Cassel back, if Matt Cassel wants to be here." Apparently, Matt Cassel wants to be here.

As the NFL's Ian Rapoport is reporting, the Minnesota Vikings and quarterback Matt Cassel have agreed to a two year contract that will keep Cassel in Minnesota.

In six starts for the Vikings last season, Cassel threw for 1,807 yards, 11 TDs and 9 interceptions. A passer rating of 81.6.

Zimmer would not guarantee Cassel the starting position as of Thursday afternoon, but there was obviously enough there for Cassel to re-sign. Read the full write-up of Zimmer's thoughts on Matt Cassel here -->
