Eden Prairie, MN - Remember all those beautiful summer days growing up as a child when your mom stormed inside the house only to find you slunked over on the couch, AC blasting with an XBOX controller in your hands? Well, Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater may have just given you one of the world's best excuses you can use against that angry mom.

Wednesday afternoon at Winter Park, Bridgewater mentioned that he is trying to learn the Vikings playbook in any way that he can. Field reps, mental reps and "virtual reps".

"I try to take as many reps as I can," Bridgewater explained on Wednesday. "Whether it's on a video game, playing EA MADDEN FOOTBALL (!!!) or in the playbook, just drawing it or visualizing it in my head, I try to maximize every rep I can get and every opportunity that I can take."

You read that correctly, Teddy Bridgewater plays video games to practice for the NFL, and you can too!

"It helps because you get one more rep than you had in practice, actual practice," Bridgewater continued. "Any chance you get to take an extra rep or go the extra step, extra mile, it's going to be very beneficial transferring it to the field."

For years now, the Madden Football franchise has separated offensive plays by formation and concepts, but in recent years, users have been able to utilize the create-a-play or create-a-playbook features to import specific sets and formations. So realistically Teddy, could find an intern tasked with creating a certain amount of Minnesota Vikings plays within the game and legitimately practice the Minnesota Vikings playbook while playing video games on his couch.

Recent developments in Madden 14 and the upcoming Madden 15 have increased the realism of CPU player reactions to the point that with the new Player Sense 2.0 functionality, a quarterback can look off a DB, audible the play call at the line all while artificial intelligence receivers and linemen are also functioning properly as they would in real life.

Well there you have it. Next time your mom yells at you for playing too many video games, look her in the eyes and tell her that you're practicing for your future in the NFL!

At second thought, don't do that. Respect your mom, go outside and actually toss the pigskin around with your friends, that helps too!
