Minneapolis, MN  -
I’m sure there will be a decent sized group of you reading this message who are angry that I’ve decided to address the subject of the 2014 NFL Draft while there are still five weeks left in the season. You are the short-term fans.

For those of you who see the benefit of a high draft pick as being greater than that of finishing the season 5-10-1, this blog is for you.

The Minnesota Vikings 26-26 tie sort of screwed things up as far as their draft status goes. Entering the week, the Vikings were sitting pretty at the #2 overall pick just behind Jacksonville. Funny enough, Jacksonville won this weekend and so did the Bucs. But again that pesky tie game is going to push the Vikings exempt of almost all tie-breakers that may occur.

As it stands today, the Minnesota Vikings are slotted in at the fourth overall draft pick. Still a good spot, but still at the mercy of the three teams ahead of them (Jacksonville, Houston, Atlanta).

If the season were to end today, and it doesn't, here is how the draft order would shake out…

*Note: The first tie breaker after record goes to strength of schedule with the team’s having the easiest schedule getting the advantage in draft slots.

For whatever it is worth, many recent Mock Drafts have South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney or Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel falling to Minnesota at the #4 pick.
