St. Paul, MN -The Minnesota Wild announced their plans to partner with Daktronics for a technology renovation at Xcel Energy Center before the beginning of the upcoming 2014-2015 NHL Season.
Daktronics (of Brookings, SD and Redwood Falls, MN) will provide the arena with a comprehensive technology upgrade that will include a new custon HD LED center hung video board.
“Daktronics is a proven leader in this industry and we are confident and really excited about adding these new technologies and what they will mean for in-arena opportunities,” said Matt Majka, Minnesota Wild Chief Operating Officer. “We want to enhance our home ice advantage and give back to the fans what they give us each and every night."
The new scoreboard with be nearly six times larger than the current one and will stretch from blue line to blue line. The new design "will feature the latest technology available and incorporate the North Woods motif already conveyed throughout the arena."
The new board will piece together 10 LED video displays with the two main displays measuring approximately 19 feet high by 37.5 feet wide. The end displays will measure 19 feet high and 24 feet wide. The feature will also include a 3 feet high ribbon screen on both the top and the bottom of the structure.
Along with the new scoreboard, Daktronics will be providing new outdoor marquees and ribbon displays that encircle the interior arena fascia.
Official unveiling of the new technology is scheduled for the Wild's first preseason home game on September 27th against the Winnipeg Jets.
