Minneapolis, MN - With the 2014 NBA trading deadline a little more than 24 hours away, rumors continue to swirl around the Minnesota Timberwolves and their future plans for All-Star forward Kevin Love.

When the Wolves signed Love to a three-year deal (with a fourth-year player option) before the 2012-2013 season, the intentions by both parties were to have the relationship be one that flourishes well into the future. But with a dash off the court drama and heaps of on the court underachieving, the looming player option on Love's deal has expedited the reality that Kevin could be traded.

While it's still probably a year too early to begin the realistic "will he stay, will he go" conversations, it's not surprising to hear it jump up already as the team weighs it's options. The fact that Kevin has obvious ties to the west coast (UCLA grad, raised in Portland, Hollywood girlfriend, Beach Boy uncle) and the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers are desperate for a prompt return to prominence doesn't help Timberwolves fans who are worried that Love is prepping to jump ship and head out West as soon as possible.

Recently, Love sat down with GQ Magazine for a feature on his grizzly beard and briefly quelled any rumors of his unhappiness here in Minnesota.

In an article scheduled to be featured in the March 2014 issue of GQ Magazine, Love addressed the situation and his comments should give Timberwolves fans a little bit of confidence heading into next season. Here's the money quote...

"People think it's so far-fetched that I would stay in Minnesota," Love told GQ. "And I'm not shitting on the Lakers, but we have a better team, the better foundation. I'm having fun." Note the present tense.

While the quote is encouraging for Wolves fans, we should all remember that Love is no longer a wide-eyed rookie. Now in his sixth NBA season, he is a seasoned veteran and knows how to mold the media any which way he pleases.

It's up to you, you can do one of two things. You can take Love at his word and rue the day that he dissed the Lakers. - OR - You can see the reality of the situation and accept that if the Wolves don't make drastic improvements over the next 365 days, this time next year, Love will likely be shipped off to another team.
