Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Zack Littell will make his MLB debut Tuesday in the first half of the doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox at Target Field, according to Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press.
The right-handed Littell has spent time between Double-A and Triple-A this season, with a 4.06 ERA, 1.275 WHIP, and a 62/17 K/BB ratio in 51 innings.
The 6-foot-3 Littell was an 11th-round high school draftee in 2013 by the Seattle Mariners. Littell, 22, has been traded twice—to the New York Yankees organization, and then to the Twins organization.
During spring training, Twins manager Paul Molitor described Littell’s pitching style as, “a little different … his fastball plays and it’s not very hard. He’s got deception, the ability to hide the ball and pitch up in the zone. He hit 90 (mph) a few times. I know he can cut it, I know he can spin it, I know he can slow it down. He seems to have a good feel of how he can get people out.”
Litell’s full repertoire includes a low-90s fastball, low-70s curveball, and a changeup.
