Minnesota Wild Agrees to Terms with Defenseman Greg Pateryn | KFAN 100.3 FM

 SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Paul Fenton today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has agreed to terms with defenseman Greg Pateryn on a three-year, $6.75 million contract.     

Pateryn, 28 (6/20/90), recorded 13 points (1-12=13) and 50 penalty minutes (PIM) in 73 games with the Dallas Stars in 2017-18. He set career highs in games played, assists, points, TOI/game (19:37), PIM, shots on goal (100), blocked shots (148) and hits (155). The 6-foot-3, 225-pound native of Sterling Heights, Mich., ranked second on the Stars in hits and shorthanded time on ice and third in blocked shots. The right-shot defenseman has collected 29 points (3-26=29), 115 PIM, 285 blocked shots and 374 hits in 167 career NHL games during parts of five seasons with Montreal (2012-17) and Dallas (2017-18). Pateryn has notched three assists in seven career Stanley Cup Playoff contests with Montreal (2014-15).     

He recorded 46 points (22-24=46) and 94 PIM in 107 games during parts of two seasons (2012-14) with Hamilton in the American Hockey League (AHL). Pateryn tallied 43 points (6-37=43) and 143 PIM in 142 games during four seasons at the University of Michigan (2008-12) and served as an alternate captain his senior season. The Wolverines advanced to the NCAA tournament all four seasons and played in the 2011 Frozen Four, losing to the University of Minnesota Duluth in overtime at Xcel Energy Center.     

Toronto selected Pateryn in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
