Day #1 at the NFL Combine with Paul Allen

There's just so much to absorb here in Indy for the 2019 NFL Combine. It's Steam Central, it's Rumorsville, USA, it's Mardi Gras North after hours ... it's a blast and I'm happy come do radio shows from here yearly.

I still feel he Vikings draft OL at 18 and maybe again in rounds two or three. I also feel they get their hands on one of these rock-star defensive linemen I kept hearing about yesterday and today.

Anyway, Jason Witten has un-retired and is back to the NFL. Cool. Hearing the Cards are definitely taking QB Kyler Murray first overall and there's some steam Josh Rosen may be traded to Miami.

Green Bay more interested at OL in round one than many think.

Vikings may be in the market for a new back-up QB next season. Vikings, too, probably will draft a QB is my guess.

The Bucs and stud DT Gerald McCoy can't seem to get together on a deal so he may be playing for another team.

One NFL friend of mine not associated with the Vikings told me Duke QB Daniel Jones will be the best NFL QB of all available this year. I couldn't pick him out of a two-person lineup standing next to Pat Williams.

There's a Texas A&M tight end many love named Jace Sternberger I didn't know existed until last night. I wouldn't be surprised if Minnesota considered TE relatively early in the draft and this could be a name to follow.

For the Vikes in my opinion I want a majority of the early draft selections to go the way of offense. I am not counting on the team "splashing" in free agency, and the begging for Rams UFA guard Rodger Saffold to play here are far-fetched. I like Saffold's game for sure and we need help at guard, but his price tag in my opinion will be way too rich for what we have to spend.

I definitely want one of these dynamic defensive linemen. So, I'm thinking a couple OL, maybe a field-stretching TE and a DL early in the draft and we are good.

I very much hope Anthony Barr returns but am not counting on it. I feel there will be a team that plays 3-4 defense that will covet him as a pass-rushing OLB, and that's fine. The Vikings are super deep in the secondary and will be fine along the DL. If fortifying the offense means taking a hit at LB so be it.

Friday from Indy a couple segs with GM Rick Spielman, one with Panthers OC Norv Turner, another with former Viking/current Bills special-teams coordinator Heath Farwell and NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell on the docket. Also Gophers LB Blake Cashman probably will join the show.

Thanks for listening when you do.
