Proposed MN Bill would make it ILLEGAL to drive too slowly in the left lane

Senator John Jasinski of Faribault and others have revived a batch of bills that would increase penalties for those who drive too slowly in the passing lane of the highway.

"We’ve all been behind the car that hangs out in that left lane and won’t move over," Jasinski says."I just think this bill promotes an easy way for better traffic flow throughout the state."

The bill would raise the fine for driving too slowly in the left lane to $100 from the current fine of $50. Add in a $75 standard surcharge on general moving violations and you'll dish out $175 bucks if you drive too slow in the left lane. The measure also permits drivers to exceed the posted speed limit by 5mph to pass slow drivers in the left lane.
