Vikings K Dan Bailey Named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week | KFAN

Eagan, Minn. (October 30, 2019) – Vikings K Dan Bailey has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Washington Redskins in Week 8.

Bailey was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals and 1-for-1 on extra points against Washington, leading the NFL in both made field goals and total kicking points (13) in Week 8. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy’s 50-yard field goal in the first quarter tied his longest make as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. After adding field goals from 29, 27 and 40 yards, the ninth-year pro is now 12-or-14 (85.7%) on field goals in 2019 and leads the Vikings in scoring with 59 points on the season.

Bailey has now won two NFC Player of the Week awards under first-year special teams coordinator Marwan Maalouf in 2019, the first coming after Bailey’s performance against the New York Giants in Week 5. It’s also the fifth NFC Player of the Week award of Bailey’s career, having won three as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Vikings have had 17 different players claim 20 total NFC Player of the Week Honors since Head Coach Mike Zimmer’s hire in 2014.
