The Minnesota Vikings just wrapped up a thriller in New Orleans with a 26-20 win over the Saints on the road in the Wild Card playoffs.
Tied 20-20 and headed into overtime it felt like Brees and the Saints had captured all the momentum back after the Vikings blitzed out to a halftime lead. But Everson Griffen called heads, and the Vikings won the toss electing to receive in overtime. The rest was history. Dalvin got a few first downs, Cousins hit Thielen deep over the top to bring it down to the two yard line. Still, the Vikings found themselves facing a third and goal from the four yard line after a few botched plays. It felt hopeless, then Kirk hit Kyle Rudolph over the top and into the corner for the touchdown and the win!
"It was a perfect throw from Kirk," Kyle Rudolph told KFAN after the game. "The whole Kirk Cousins can't win big games on the road thing IS OVER!"
That marks the first playoff win of Kirk Cousins' career and gets him a big win, on the road against a very good football team.
Next week, the Vikings will face the San Francisco 49ers on the road at 3:25pm.
