Cameron Dantzler held out of Vikings practice Wednesday

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off a disappointing performance against the Green Bay Packers last Sunday where they lost 43-34. The defense struggled to stop Aaron Rodgers through the air and now one of the team’s starting cornerbacks was held out of Wednesday’s practice.

Cameron Dantzler led the Vikings cornerbacks with 64 snaps against the Packers. There were some ups and downs for the rookie corner, but he ultimately led the Vikings cornerbacks with ten or more snaps in terms of a PFF grade. Dantzler was thrown right into the fire against a first-ballot Hall of Famer in Rodgers, but still ended with an overall PFF grade of 59.8.

He didn’t practice on Wednesday due to a rib injury and it’s something to keep an eye on as the week progresses. The Vikings take on Phillip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts this coming Sunday, a quarterback they have had recent success against.

If Dantzler’s rib injury holds him out of the game on Sunday things could get interesting for the Vikings. Neither Mike Hughes or Holton Hill had stellar games against Green Bay and it’s possible that Jeff Gladney would get more playing time if Dantzler can’t play.

However, Gladney also found himself on the injury report on Wednesday along with wide receiver Bisi Johnson. Both players were listed as full participants, meaning they have a good chance at being ready to go on Sunday.
