Vikings trading Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens for draft picks

The Minnesota Vikings are on their bye week but that didn’t limit them from making a headline worthy trade.

They are sending Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens for a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 fifth-round pick.

As the Vikings sit at 1-5 their playoff hopes are all but gone in 2020. The departure of Ngakoue comes as a surprise as he has been the best player along the defensive line. Through the first six games he has 12 tackles and five sacks.

It originally cost the Vikings their 2021 second-round pick to land Ngakoue, but they were able to get a third and future fifth in return.

The trade itself doesn’t make a lot of sense, unless the front office is bought in on selling now. The team doesn’t have a realistic chance of making the playoffs, so it seems as if a top quarterback could be an option in the 2021 NFL Draft.
