After the Seattle Seahawks cut ties with quarterback Sean Mannion, we started hearing rumblings that the Vikings were kicking those tires once again.
I mean, it makes sense right? He's been here in this system before. He's been a good teammate for Kirk Cousins before. And he has the one thing that Kellen Mond won't have throughout the entirety of the 2021 season...veteran NFL experience.
Well, now it's official.
To be noted, the Vikings signed Mannion to the Practice Squad and not to the active 53-man roster. That means that in a pinch or at the hands of an in-game injury, Kellen Mond is still effectively the Vikings backup quarterback. But Mannion is in the mix, mostly as a teacher and mentor for both Kirk and Kellen, but also if any extended absence falls upon Cousins, Mannion is there to step into whichever role Kubiak and Zimmer might have for him.
