After wrapping up interviews with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and learning of his intentions to return to the Wolverines, the Minnesota Vikings reportedly informed finalists Raheem Morris and Patrick Graham that they were headed in a different direction.
That direct, Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell.
According to Tom Pelissero, the Vikings are finalizing the details to bring O'Connell in to be the next head coach of the Vikings though the deal cannot be finalized until after the Super Bowl.
O'Connell, 36, is a former quarterback who was drafted by the New England Patriots and played for a handful of other teams before retiring in 2012. O'Connell was hired as a quarterbacks coach by Washington in 2017 and spent that time with now Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. He has served as the offensive coordinator for the Rams for the past two seasons.
