Twins Sign Belisle, Designate Park

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have signed right-handed pitcher Matt Belisle to a one-year contract worth $2,050,000. The 36-year-old spent 2016 with the Washington Nationals, appearing in 40 games, posting a 1.76 ERA (46.0 IP, 9 ER) with seven walks and 32 strikeouts.

The Austin, Texas native has a career record of 49-55 with a 4.20 ERA (834.0 IP, 389 ER), 205 walks and 632 strikeouts in 598 games (44 starts) with Cincinnati, Colorado, St. Louis and Washington.

To make room for Belisle on the 40-man roster, the Twins have designated first baseman/designated hitter Byung Ho Park for release or assignment. Park appeared in 62 games for the Twins last season.
