Wet Nosed Wednesday: Meet Lucky, Bonito and Jelly Bean

This week, we are highlighting three cats that were recently brought to Minnesota from Mexico with the help of Pause 4 Paws.

They are working to save the cats of Cuale Island in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Cuale Island is an eight-block area that has, sadly, become a dumping ground for unwanted cats. Pause 4 Paws has partnered with Puerto Vallerta rescue organization, Puro Gato to relocate 50 – 75 of those cats.

Puro Gato’s mission is to secure, care for, and provide medical assistance to the Cuale Island Cats. These cats face life-or-death situations every day as they are exposed to the elements, and many have been subject to abuse and even poisoning.

Lucky, Bonito and JellyBean are just three of those cats who escaped the Island and made their way to Minnesota.

Lucky is a petite girl who is about two years old. She loves being with people, and she loves siting in the laps of people as well. And even though she gets along well with both dogs and cats, she prefers people to other animals. After all, people can give her the attention she wants more than cats and dogs can, and she does love attention.

JellyBean and Bonito also came from Cuale Island and were two of the 130+ cats on the Island that Puro Gato feeds each night. JellyBean is the gorgeous Calico and Bonito is the grey and white one. They are a bonded pair; they sleep together and clean each other often. As such, they would probably prefer to be adopted together.

In addition, Colita, who we featured a few weeks ago and is also from Mexico, is still available for adoption.

And although a few of the 50 – 75 cats have been rescued and taken to Minnesota, there’s still a lot of work to do for Pause 4 Paws to reach it’s goal. They still need donations and foster families for the cats.
