The Minnesota Gophers knocked off the Indiana Hoosiers Wednesday night after guard Akeem Springs banked the game-winning runner in off the glass to give the Gophers a 75-74 lead with just 2.9 seconds remaining.
Springs was having seemingly the worst shooting night of his career as he missed his first 10 shots of the night, was a lowly 1-of-12 at one point and was benched at one point due to his poor shooting. But Springs didn't let his confidence sway.
With less than 10 seconds left in the game, Springs fired up a fade-away jumper that fell short, but Springs followed his shot, collected the rebound and banked in the game-winner.
The Gophers now sit at 7-6 in conference play and 19-7 overall and are riding a four-game winning streak after enduring a dreadful five-game losing streak.
Whether the Gophers will be dancing in the NCAA Tournament come March remains to be seen, but right now the team is certainly playing like they want to claim their spot in the big dance.
