Tuesday night's game between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers was quite an exciting game. There were missed opportunities by both teams, huge saves by a pair of elite goaltenders and immense suspense as the game concluded in a multi-round shootout that Montreal ultimately won.
Montreal would not have emerged victorious in the shootout had it not been for a bad break followed by a spectacular save by goaltender Carey Price.
With time winding down in overtime, the Canadiens had a light rush in the Rangers' zone. Tomas Plekanec fired a shot that made its way past Ranger goalie Henrik Lundqvist but rang off the crossbar, launching a two-on-one opportunity for the Rangers going the other way.
After a cross-ice pass made its way to J.T. Miller, Miller was staring at a wide-open net as Price was out of position. But as Miller lined the puck to the net, Price lept and got his hands up to bat the puck down and keep the game tied and headed for overtime.
Watching it once is simply not enough. This is truly an amazing save and made even more spectacular given the circumstances (time winding down in overtime).
