Call it poor timing, bad luck or whatever you'd like, but nothing is going to change the outcome of the race.
Irish runner Aengus Meldon was doing great, leading almost the entirety of the race. That is, until unusual circumstances occurred on the final stretch.
Leading the race with the finish line in sight, Meldon became entangled with a rogue pole vault bar that seemingly came out of nowhere. Immediately Meldon began to struggle as the bar became more and more wrapped around his feet, causing the Irish runner to lose the race.
Meldon was given a bye to the final round given the circumstances, but how truly unlucky to lead the whole race only to lose because of a stray pole vault bar.
