Most times in the NBA teams will want their tallest players or best jumpers to take jump balls. Sometimes however, teams don't have a choice who takes the jump and that leads to great moments like the one witnessed on Sunday between the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns.
After a scramble for the ball, Celtics' 5'9 guard Isaiah Thomas was set to take the jump ball against Suns' 5'10 guard Tyler Ullis. In comparison, the Celtics' tallest players - Kelly Olynyk and Tyler Zeller - are both 7'0 tall and the Suns' tallest players - Dragan Bender and Alex Len - are both listed at 7'1. That's quite a difference between Thomas and Ullis.
Thomas made the leap and won the tip for what was, while short-lived, an entertaining and unique moment in the NBA.
