It's not quite time for baseball seeing as how the NHL regular season is winding down and the NBA regular season is doing the same. Although enthusiasm for the Timberwolves is surprisingly limited given their current position in the standings, but I digress.
With the World Baseball Classic kicking off now, certain plays and moments just have to be highlighted and this is one of them.
Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth with one out and a runner on third base, Colombia’s Reynaldo Rodriguez hit a liner to Jose Bautista in left field. Bautista made the catch cleanly and came up firing as pinch runner Oscar Mercado tagged on the play and tried to score the game-winning run. It didn't work.
Bautista's throw was spot on as it one-hopped to the catcher who tagged Mercado out. Players from the Colombian team did not agree and they went nuts at the umpire before getting ejected.
