Today is the 16-year anniversary of an unfortunate moment in Major League Baseball history, as 16 years ago today, pitcher Randy Johnson hurled a fastball towards the plate and instead hit a bird that somehow got in the path of the pitch.
The bird seemed to just explode from being hit by the pitch.
By no means am I saying that this was a good thing, but it's downright unfathomable. The sheer timing of the bird to fly directly in the path of a 100+mph fastball at exactly the right moment and angle is just incredible.
