The Minnesota Twins were in Chicago over the weekend, taking on the division rival White Sox in their first road series of the young season. After sweeping the Kansas City Royals in three games to open the season, the Twins took to the road and took two out of three games from the White Sox to move their record to 5-1 and now boast the best record in the American League.

The Twins took the series-opener 3-1 behind a stellar pitching performance from Phil Hughes who pitched six innings and allowed only one run. Miguel Sano and Chris Gimenez both added RBI doubles to fuel the offense and Minnesota moved to 4-0 for the first time since 1987.

The second game of the series saw Minnesota suffer their first loss of the season as they fell to Chicago 6-2. Minnesota's starter Adalberto Mejia pitched less than two innings (though admittedly he was on a minor pitch limit) and the defense committed a flurry of errors leading to the team's first loss. The Twins had no trouble getting on base but struggled to bring guys in as they finished a dismal 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

The series finale saw Minnesota get back on track though as they topped the White Sox 4-1 behind home runs from Sano and shortstop Jorge Polanco and a stellar pitching performance from Ervin Santana who pitched six solid innings and allowed just two hits while walking two and striking out four.

The Twins now have Monday off before starting a three-game series in Detroit against the Tigers.
