Twins Acquire Kevin Chapman from Atlanta in Exchange for Danny Santana

According a press release from the Minnesota Twins Monday evening, the Twins have Traded Danny Santana in exchange for Kevin Chapman. 

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Kevin Chapman, and cash considerations, from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for infielder/outfielder Danny Santana.  Santana was designated for release or assignment on May 5.

Chapman, 29, has appeared in nine games for Triple-A Gwinnett in 2017, posting a 7.71 ERA (11.2 IP, 10 ER) with three walks and 10 strikeouts. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder has played in parts of four major league seasons, all with the Houston Astros, from 2013-16 posting a record of 3-1 with a 4.09 ERA (55.0 IP, 25 ER), 31 walks and 48 strikeouts in 58 appearances. Chapman will report to Triple-A Rochester.

Originally signed by the Twins in 2007, Santana played in parts of four seasons with a career .266 average (246-for-924), 48 doubles, 14 triples and 10 home runs in 280 games.
