Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired left-handed pitcher Dietrich Enns and minor league right-handed pitcher Zack Littell from the New York Yankees in exchange for Jamie García and cash considerations in a trade that was completed last night.
Enns, 26, has a record of 1-1 with a 2.29 ERA (39.1 IP, 10 ER), 10 walks and 37 strikeouts in seven starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. In 110 career appearances (50 starts) in five minor league seasons he is 27-14 with a 1.87 ERA (389.2 IP, 81 ER), 146 walks and 397 strikeouts. Enns is on the 40-man roster and will report to Triple-A Rochester.
Littell, 21, has combined to go 14-1 with a 1.87 ERA (115.1 IP, 24 ER), 23 walks and 109 strikeouts in 20 appearances (18 starts) between Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton this season. In 92 career minor league appearances (86 starts) he is 35-24 with a 3.24 ERA (496.2 IP, 179 ER), 112 walks and 441 strikeouts. Littell will report to Double-A Chattanooga.
García made one start for the Twins since being acquired from Atlanta July 24, earning the win July 28 at Oakland after pitching 6.2 innings allowing three runs.The Twins will make a corresponding 25-man roster move at a later date.
