SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has activated forward Zach Parise (pronounced pah-REE-see) from long term injured reserve and reassigned forward Zack Mitchell to the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Parise, 33 (7/28/84), underwent microdiscectomy surgery on Oct. 24 and has not appeared in a game for Minnesota this season. He played in one game for Iowa on a conditioning assignment, registering an assist on Dec. 28 vs. Rockford. Parise tallied 42 points (19-23=42) including six power-play goals and four game-winning tallies in 69 games with the Wild last season and added three points (2-1=3) in five Stanley Cup playoff matches. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Minneapolis, Minn., owns 661 points (318-343=661) in 830 career NHL contests with New Jersey and Minnesota.
Mitchell, 24 (1/7/93), has tallied five points (3-2=5) including one game-winning goal in 21 games with Minnesota this season. He tallied his first career NHL point with an assist vs. Columbus on Oct. 14 and his first NHL goal against the New York Islanders on Oct. 26. The 6-foot-1, 196-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario, owns five points in 32 career NHL games with Minnesota. Mitchell has also collected 16 points (5-11=16) in 11 games with Iowa this season.
