The Carolina Panthers might be on the verge of hiring Norv Turner as OC

While most of the attention in Minnesota is honed in on New Orleans and the Saints game this weekend, another familiar name has popped up only this time it's across the country with coach Ron Rivera and the Carolina Panthers.

Hot on the heels of Rivera opting to fire offensive coordinator Mike Shula, rumors started popping up surrounding his replacement and the name is none other than former Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

Turner has been out of the league for a year and a half now after opting to walk away from the offensive coordinator position here in Minnesota under Mike Zimmer. Turner's departure paved the way for Pat Shurmur to step into the role, something that turned out okay for the team, but left questions surrounding Norv's future.

Turner hired Rivera as a coach back in San Diego years ago so the pair has history and Norv has the track record. It didn't do him much good here in Minnesota but maybe it will help his cause with Cam Newton in Carolina going forward.

I guess we'll have to wait and see...
