What does a rough NFC Championship loss mean for QB Case Keenum's future?

It's the newest, most important question for the Minnesota Vikings.

While most everybody was getting ready to ask how they planned to stop Tom Brady and the Patriots in Super Bowl LII, the mood quickly changed in Minnesota and the attention quickly shifted to the Vikings ominous situation at the quarterback position.

There are three quarterbacks on roster for the Vikings today that have starting quarterback experience. All of them are set to be free agents after this season concludes.

Just one week ago, it looked like Case Keenum was the leader in the clubhouse to make a play for that starting void for the 2018 season...and then 38-7 happened.

It wasn't just 38-7 either, it was arguably the worst game of Case Keenum's career.

After posting a passer rating of 98.3 this season, Keenum finished the day in Philly with 271 yards, 2 interceptions and one touchdown, good enough for a passer rating of just 63.8. It wasn't just the stats that didn't satisfy for Case, the eye test was failed on Sunday as well. A few passes sailed, others weren't read well and still more were poor decisions.

Now it wasn't all Case's fault.

The offensive line wasn't much help, the defense was even less of a benefit, across the board it was a rough showing and it landed all eyes on the soon to be free agent quarterback.

So where does that leave us?

Sam Bradford might have a degenerative, career affecting knee injury. Teddy Bridgewater is still seemingly a shell of his former self. And now Case Keenum, our knight in shining armor has proven that despite the Minneapolis Miracle, he is in fact mortal, he is flawed, and he does have a lot of room to grow.

How negatively does today hit Case's bank account with free agency looming? How much does it impact the Vikings desire to keep him or let him go?

There are a lot of questions that need to be answered this offseason and a decision on Case Keenum needs to be the top priority.
