Most of us, including me, are still reeling from the Philly Folly, the Philly Fail, the Philly Flop, the Broad Street Bloodbath..whatever you want to call it.
But I found an immense amount of joy today when I was wondering to myself...what did Pete Bercich's hysterical screaming sound like during the Minneapolis Miracle call, and could I isolate that 90 seconds of pure childlike joy? What did PA's game call sound like, with just his voice hitting the airwaves during one of the most incredible moments we've ever witnessed in MN sports history?
Well, I figured it out, and deconstructed the Minneapolis Miracle.
First, here's PA's full game call, with only his voice and mic:
Fantastic call! Hit every note perfectly, and he held it together throughout...at least until he saw the Vikings coaches celebrating in the next booth. YES YES YES YES YES!!!! It was a heavy weight boxing match up there with the amount of haymakers being thrown. Standing next to PA, I was out of my mind and body for a couple minutes at that point.
Now, there's Pete Bercich. He's played and coached for this franchise, and he adores this team. He was on the field when Morten Andersen daggered the 1998 Vikings, he was there for 41-doughnut and was at Superdome with PA when Favre threw across his body in the '09 title game. He's seen a lot of bad....here's what he sounded like when the demon was exorcised:
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I cannot stop laughing! He vocalized the collective thought of all of us.
So, you've heard them separately...now let's put it back together again:
Magic.
