ST. PAUL - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced that forward Luke Kunin will miss the remainder of this season after suffering a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Sunday's game against Detroit. Kunin is expected to have surgery to repair his knee in the coming weeks and return to play in approximately seven months.
Kunin, 20 (12/4/97), was most recently recalled by Minnesota on Feb. 27, and has recorded four points (2-2=4) and 34 hits in 19 contests with Minnesota this season. He made his NHL debut against Columbus on Oct. 14 and recorded two assists for his first career NHL points at Calgary on Oct. 21. Kunin tallied his first career NHL goal on Oct. 26 against the New York Islanders to become the first player in team history to score his first career NHL goal shorthanded. The 6-foot, 193-pound native of Chesterfield, Mo., has tallied 19 points (10-9=19) including five power-play goals and 34 penalty minutes (PIM) in 36 games with Iowa this season and represented Iowa at the 2018 AHL All-Star Game. Kunin was selected by the Wild in the first round (15th overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
