Minnesota Wild Signs Defenseman Eric Martinsson | KFAN 100.3 FM

    SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota Wild Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Brent Flahr today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed defenseman Eric Martinsson to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2018-19 season.     

Martinsson, 25 (10/22/92), tallied 17 points (3-14=17), 34 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-14 rating in 46 games for Vaxjo HC in the Swedish Elite League this season. He ranked ninth amongst league defensemen in TOI/game at 21:17. The 6-foot, 185-pound native of Klippan, Sweden, added 11 points (3-8=11) and 45 shots in 13 playoff games to help Vaxjo HC win the playoff championship. He led league defensemen in playoff scoring and shots. Martinsson recorded 48 points (10-38=48) and 135 PIM in 184 contests during four seasons with Vaxjo HC (2014-18). Martinsson collected 33 points (7-26=33) and 66 PIM in 59 games with the Des Moines Buccaneers in the USHL during the 2012-13 season.
