Minnesota Vikings outside linebacker Anthony Barr was a notable absence as the team opened up their first Organized Team Activities At Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center today.
Barr is entering the final year of his rookie contract and stands to make $12.3 million on the fifth year team option of his rookie deal. Still seeing the likes of Rams DT Aaron Donald holding out and on the heals of LB Eric Kendrick’s getting his new deal done this offseason, it would appear as if the promise of long term stability is outweighing his presence at early OTAs.
It was just a few weeks back that the Vikings re-negotiated a contract with DE Brian Robison clearing approximately $2.3 million in cap space. One would have to wonder if some of that extra money could be allocated to getting #55 back on the field.
Aj Mansour is out at the team facility and will provide updates on this situation and others throughout the day as news continues to be shared.
