Tonight in Minneapolis, the Minnesota United with celebrate their annual "Pride Night". This will be their fifth annual but this year's celebration will be unique as United midfielder Collin Martin will be publicly announcing that he is gay.

Technically Martin did make the announcement earlier Friday on social media with a Tweet in which he said , "I'll be announcing for the first time publicly that I am an openly gay player in Major League Soccer. I have been out as a gay man for many years to my family and friends, and this includes my teammates."

Martin's announcement makes him only the second active player in the MLS to come out as a gay man actively playing in the sport (Robbie Rogers played four seasons for the L.A. Galaxy after coming out).

Currently, Martin would be the only active American male athlete in the five main professional sports to have announced he is openly gay.
