Vikings and MSFA to open new "Mother's Room" at U.S. Bank Stadium | KFAN

New private breastfeeding room complements four Mamava lactation suites; media invited to visit the space this Friday at 5:00 p.m.

Eagan, Minn. (August 23, 2018) – To celebrate National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) announced the opening of a new Mothers’ Room (images attached) at U.S. Bank Stadium. The private breastfeeding room will be available for all major stadium events and will open to fans for the first time during this Friday’s preseason game against Seattle.

Funded from the stadium’s capital improvement account, the Mothers’ Room further enhances the inclusive experience at U.S. Bank Stadium and complements the four Mamava lactation suites, which are currently used more than 50 times per game. The addition is a direct response to fan feedback received during the first two seasons at the stadium.

“When we launched the partnership with Mamava in 2015, we acknowledged it was a first step in our effort to create a positive experience for nursing mothers at Vikings games,” said Vikings Chief Operating Officer Kevin Warren. “Having witnessed the positive response and increased demand for the lactation suites, we strongly believed the addition of the Mothers’ Room was another critical step in building a family-friendly environment at U.S. Bank Stadium.”

The 154-square foot Mothers’ Room holds seating for up to four women and includes two private nursing areas, a changing table with supplies, seating and toys for toddlers, and a television to stay connected to the game. The room is located near Section 122 on the main concourse, adjacent to the women’s restroom.

“I am so proud of our organization for directly responding to fan feedback and taking this significant step,” said Director of Vikings Women Tami Hedrick. “We are making Vikings game days even more inclusive by adding a dedicated, comfortable and private space for nursing mothers to utilize at U.S. Bank Stadium.”

“With this addition of the Mothers’ Room, the MSFA is proud to support mothers at all events at U.S. Bank Stadium,” said Michael Vekich, chair of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority. “Providing a quiet, clean space for nursing mothers is an amenity that makes our stadium unique and more welcoming.”

Fans can locate the Mothers’ Room and the four Mamava suites on the Vikings mobile app once inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
