(South Bend, IN) -- The Notre Dame defense forced a turnover in the final minute to seal a victory over number-14 Michigan 24-17 in South Bend. Brandon Wimbush threw for 170 yards and a touchdown and had a team-high 59 rushing yards in the winning effort. Jafar Armstrong had a pair of rushing touchdowns for the 11th-ranked Fighting Irish as they opened the 2018 season with a win. Shea Patterson threw for 227 yards for the Wolverines but turned the ball over twice, including the fumble that sealed the game. Karan Higdon had 72 rushing yards and a touchdown in defeat.
