How The Kardashians Influenced The Most Popular Name Trends This Year

At the end of every year, BabyCenter releases its annual report of the most popular baby names from the past 12 months. In addition to releasing the top ten most popular names for boys and girls, BabyCenter also identifies popular new naming trends. For 2018, they noticed that names from new video game Fortnite, such as main character Ramirez, grew in popularity, as well as names that had a "zen" theme, such as Harmony, Hope, Rainbow, and Peace, also saw a surge in popularity.

After welcoming three babies in 2018, The Kardashians influenced a new naming trend of their own. Kylie Jenner welcomed her first child, a daughter named Stormi, in February. The name Stormi jumped 63% in popularity this year. Another name that saw a significant spike in 2018 is Dream, which Rob Kardashian chose for his daughter, which increased in popularity by 42%. Kim Kardashian's moniker for her son, Saint, shot up 42%, while Reign, the name of Kourtney Kardashian's third child, was up 27%, as well.

Another popular reality TV family inspired some new name trends, as well. Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines inspired other parents to follow in their footsteps with their name choices. The former Fixer Upper stars welcomed their fifth child in 2018, a boy named Crew, which saw a 4% increase in popularity. Meanwhile, their other children's names also saw a surge: Emmie went up 13% and Ella was up 8%. Drake saw a 13% increase, as well.

While all these names saw a significant uptick in popularity in 2018, none of them made the top 10 list. So, which names did?
