Adam Thielen has high praise for rookie cornerback Cameron Dantzler

Auburn v Mississippi State

The Vikings had their first padded practice Monday afternoon and rookie Cameron Dantzler is already getting some high praise.

Dantzler had a nice pass breakup on a ball intended for Adam Thielen, who complimented the rookie out of Mississippi State.

“We liked [Cameron Dantzler] a lot on tape,” Mike Zimmer said. “Adam Thielen came up to me during practice today and said 27 is going to be good.”

Dantzler was the only third round selection for the Vikings and his style fits Zimmer’s system perfectly. He’s a lengthy, physical corner that’s willing to come down and play the run as well. He was the only player in 2019 that was able to shut down the duo of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr chase.

The Vikings desperately needed help in their secondary and they attacked the position twice in the first three rounds. Pairing Jeff Gladney and Dantzler with an already youthful cornerback group should have the secondary set up for long-term success.

After one day of padded practice, Dantzler already has some high praise from the Vikings number one receiver.
