The Vikings third-round draft pick made some noise again on Tuesday afternoon, this time intercepting a Kirk Cousins pass intended for Bisi Johnson.
In the first padded practice, Cameron Dantzler turned some heads after using his athleticism to knock down a deep ball intended for Adam Thielen.
Dantzler had some first-round buzz before running a slow 40-yard dash at the combine. His numbers during his time at Mississippi State were solid, with one of the craziest stat lines showing opposing quarterback’s passer rating when he was targeted.
The Vikings are only a few days into official training camp practice but the buzz around Dantzler has only grown since he was selected on day two of the NFL Draft. It should be noted that Dantzler was beaten on a deep route by Alexander Hollins during Tuesday’s practice as well.
Cornerback depth was a huge hole before the draft but the Vikings addressed the issue twice in the first three rounds. Pairing that with a head coach in Mike Zimmer who specializes in turning defensive backs into stars makes it seem as if their positional group is now set up for long-term success.
