Cameron Dantzler ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Colts

Green Bay Packers v Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings secondary didn’t get off to a hot start against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers last week. There were blown coverages, missed tackles and cornerbacks getting burnt rather frequently. The good news for the Vikings is they’re going up against Phillip Rivers, who they had a lot of success against last season in Los Angeles.

The bad news is they’re going to have to go up against the Colts without one of their starting cornerbacks.

It’ll be interesting to see how Mike Zimmer handles this situation. Jeff Gladney was the Vikings’ second pick in the first round and only saw nine snaps against the Packers. He might get his chance to show why he was a first round pick this weekend in Indianapolis.

The Vikings are going to have to make Rivers uncomfortable in the pocket and that all starts with getting a push up front. Yannick Ngakoue will have to step up and it’s possible the Vikings show more blitzes in week two as well.

If the Vikings struggle to get a pass rush the secondary could be in for another bad performance against Rivers and the Colts.
