Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson named to 2021 Pro Bowl

Carolina Panthers v Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings may have put the nail in the coffin in terms of their 2020 season, but two of their star players have been named to the 2021 Pro Bowl. This is the second consecutive season for Dalvin Cook making it, while Justin Jefferson is one of two rookies to make it for the first time.

The normal Pro Bowl isn’t happening due to COVID-19 restrictions, but they will still be holding a Madden 21 event in its place.

Cook has totaled 1,484 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, while adding an additional 349 yards and a touchdown through the air. The Vikings were faced with a tough decision in terms of re-signing a running back this offseason and it’s paid off over the first season on Cook’s new deal.

The biggest surprise of the season has been the emergence of Jefferson, who had some big shoes to fill when the Stefon Diggs trade happened prior to the 2020 NFL Draft. Jefferson was the fifth receiver taken in the draft and he’s proven that he’s the best of an extremely deep positional group.

With two games still remaining Jefferson has hauled in 73 catches for 1,182 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s broken a few of Randy Moss’ rookie receiving records and has made the case for being Offensive Rookie of the Year. If the award wasn’t tailored towards quarterbacks Jefferson may actually have a shot at the award.

Even if the Vikings miss out on the playoffs this season still has several positives that will come out of it. The future of the team’s offense is in good hands with several years left of Cook and Jefferson being two of the top stars in the NFL.
