(Minneapolis, MN) -- Scheduled to begin today, the jury selection for the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been delayed until at least Tuesday, March 9th. Judge Peter Cahill is taking the extra time to consider whether or not to allow a third-degree murder charge to be added. Currently under review by the Minnesota Court of Appeals, the third degree charge could be added to the slate of second degree unintentional murder and second degree manslaughter in the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Chauvin was filmed with his knee on the neck of Floyd for 8 minutes last year.
