Minnesota officials are asking that you STOP releasing your pet goldfish into ponds and lakes because they grow WAY bigger than you think!
In a Facebook post over the weekend, the city of Burnsville, MN posted the pictures below. In the post, they said:
At high populations, goldfish can contribute to poor water quality by mucking up the bottom sediments and uprooting plants.
These goldfish were caught during the recent survey.
Instead of releasing your pet goldfish in a local lake or pond, please consider other options for finding them a new home like asking a responsible friend or neighbor to care for it.
