First team offense sputters again as Vikings head towards regular season

The Minnesota Vikings have wrapped up the 2021 preseason and they've done so without a win.

While wins and losses are not necessarily what the team and coaches are looking for, improvement week to week is what they are looking for. And we saw marginal improvement this week.

We didn't see the full slate of starters on offense or defense for the Vikings but there was enough of them sprinkled in there to be a little concerned given how they fared against the Chiefs, but then again it was against the Chiefs. The "first team" defense got shredded by Mahomes, Hill and Kelce giving up multiple scores and struggling to slow down the high powered Kansas City offense.

On offense we saw slight improvement from Cousins and the "ones" that were out there, yet they were unable once again to get into the end zone. Kirk was 5 for 7 passing for 57 yards and no scores.

Jake Browning continued to struggle going 2 for 8 passing for 41 yards, while Kellen Mond looked a bit more comfortable. It wasn't perfect for Mond but we saw him start to play football rather than looking like he was thinking the entire time. Mond finished the night 16 for 23 passing for 196 yards and running 5 times for 40 yards.

Check out the highlights from the night below...
