The Vikings rounded out their 53-man roster late on Tuesday afternoon with a few surprise players being waived.

One of those players just signed over a week ago and has a ten-year history in Minnesota.

Everson Griffen didn’t make the initial 53-man roster, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he won’t be leading Skol chants in the near future.

A few other notable players that didn’t crack the initial roster include Ameer Abdullah, Dakota Dozier, Dru Samia, Jake Browning and A.J. Rose.

While some of these make more sense than others, it’s odd that a name like Jayln Holmes would make the roster over Griffen.

There are going to be plenty of moves made within the next week and there’s a good chance that some of the younger players find their way to the Vikings practice squad. There are also some players with injuries that could be put on IR, potentially opening roster spots for some of the players waived today.

Here’s the full list of all the players that were released for the initial 53-man roster construction.
